Louis Armstrong – Cool Yule

"Cool Yule" is a song by Louis Armstrong, recorded with the Commanders and released in 1953 as a single through Decca Records, backed with "'Zat You, Santa Claus?" Written by Steve Allen, the television host and entertainer best known as the first host of The Tonight Show, the track blended a swinging jazz arrangement with lighthearted holiday lyrics. It remained one of a handful of Christmas singles Armstrong recorded during the 1950s, though it was never compiled into a full length Armstrong Christmas album during his lifetime. In 2022, more than fifty years after his death, Verve Records gathered "Cool Yule" alongside his other holiday recordings for Louis Wishes You a Cool Yule, his first dedicated Christmas album.
