Akon – Ghetto

"Ghetto" is a song by Akon, released on December 21, 2004, as a single from his debut studio album, Trouble, through SRC and Universal Records. Written and produced with Benny-D, the song addressed the cycle of poverty in inner city communities and the pressures faced by those living there, and it peaked at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100. Several official versions followed, including an International Remix featuring Dutch artists Ali B and Yes-R, and a US promotional remix that added verses from Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. The song remains part of the run of singles from Trouble that helped establish Akon's sound at the start of his career.
