"Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" is a song by The Jackson 5, released in 1970 as a single from their fourth studio album, Jackson 5 Christmas Album, through Motown Records. A cover of the 1934 standard written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, the same song later covered live by Bruce Springsteen, the Jackson 5's version featured a twelve year old Michael Jackson on lead vocals and was produced by The Corporation and Hal Davis. The album spent all four weeks of December 1970 at number one on Billboard's Christmas Albums chart and has sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide, though the single itself did not officially chart on the Billboard Hot 100 until 50 years after its release. The song remains a holiday radio staple alongside the album's other well known track, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus."
