Awilo Longomba – Gâté le coin

"Gâté le coin" is a song by Awilo Longomba, released in 1998 as a track on his second studio album, Coupé Bibamba, through Jimmy's Production. Longomba, a Congolese soukous drummer and bandleader who had risen to prominence with his debut album Moto Pamba, built the track around the fast paced guitar interplay and rhythmic drumming characteristic of soukous and ndombolo. The album itself became a major success across Africa and its diaspora, anchored by its title track featuring Jocelyne Béroard, which is frequently cited among the most well known Lingala songs of the era.
