Linkin Park – Numb

"Numb" is a song by Linkin Park, released on September 8, 2003, as the third single and closing track from their second studio album, Meteora, through Warner Bros. Records. Written by the band and produced with Don Gilmore, the track built its recognizable sound around a keyboard hook and became one of the band's signature songs, later described by co-writer Mike Shinoda as a backward looking reflection on a relationship. It peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Modern Rock Tracks chart for a combined twelve weeks across 2003 and 2004, making it the only song to top that chart's year end ranking in two separate years. In 2004, the song was mashed up with Jay-Z's "Encore" as "Numb/Encore" for the Collision Course EP, extending its reach to a new audience.
