Magic System – 1er Gaou

"1er Gaou" is a song by Magic System, released in 1999 from the album Premier Gaou. Sung in a mix of French and Ivorian street slang, the track told the story of a man who was rejected by his girlfriend because of poverty, only for her to return after he became successful. The song's catchy Zouglou rhythm, humorous storytelling, and relatable message helped it spread beyond Côte d'Ivoire and become one of the most recognized African crossover hits of the early 2000s.
